The Booster Club helps out a number of charities in the area. Our two primary charities are the Ronald McDonald House of Hershey and the 4 Diamonds Fund of Central Pa. This is the result of our 50/50 raffles held at the Arena and at meetings & functions held by the Club. The HBBC's 50/50 raffle has two purposes:
  • To raise money for the Booster Club
  • To contribute money to the Club's two primary charities - the Ronald McDonald House of Hershey, and the 4 Diamonds Fund of Central Pa.

    COST:
Tickets can be purchased at home games: 3 tickets for $1.00, 9 tickets for $2.00, or 30 tickets for $5.00.

    WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
Of all the money taken in, 50% is allotted to winners. 25% is allotted directly to the Charities. This money is presented to them during an on-ice ceremony at Player Awards Night. The Booster Club receives the other 25%. This money is utilized for our other functions and to offset the costs of other charitable events the Booster Club takes part in.

    HOW DOES BONUS NIGHT WORK?
The Booster Club's license limits us to a $500 maximum giveaway. Any surplus money goes into a Bonus Fund. When the bonus fund approaches the $500 mark, the membership will set a date to hold a Bonus Night. On a Bonus Night, there are 4 payouts: The regular Top Prize (50% of what the Club takes in, with a $500 maximum)
    Bonus prizes of $250, $150 and $100.

We also have a summer event; the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. This is a 24 hour team walk normally held on the last weekend in June. We raise money for this through various means, and over the five years we've been involved, have raised over $25,000 for the American Cancer Society.

On occasion, the Booster Club is made aware of a special situation and will donate proceeds from our 50/50 raffles to these charities. Among the causes we have contributed to have been the Worcester Firefighters Fund (for six firefighters killed in a fire in 1999), the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation, and the New York City Relief Fund (United Way / NY Community Trust).

In addition to our fund raising, we have several community events which take place at Bears games. The 2007-08 season will see our Club taking part in the annual Help the House Night, Christmas Angel Tree, and Food Bank Drives: all ways we can contribute to the community and reach out to help those in need.

The Booster Club is an organization which is proud of its contributions to the community, and we are prouder still of the fans who help us make these contributions. Whenever you make a donation, buy a ticket, or contribute to one of our drives, you make all of what we strive to do a reality. We will continue to work with the community, both through these charities and with our community based events. Thanks to all of you for your support!!

The HBBC raised $11,756 this summer in the 14th annual Harrisburg Relay For Life. This was the tenth year that the HBBC participated in the event, being represented by forty-one HBBC members!

In all, the Cancer Society exceeded it's goal of $115,000.

Special thanks to President Howie Lewis and his wife, Terri; as well as the Baltimore Boosters for selling suns and moons throughout the year, as well as donating to our relay efforts.
